A Celebration of Progress and Innovation: The Paint Technology Course II Graduation Ceremony


September 4, QC Sports Club, Quezon City — In a splendid afternoon of tribute and accomplishment, the Paint Technology Course II (PTC II) graduation ceremony unfolded on a day brimming with anticipation and pride.


Hosted by Cathy Sanjoijo of Artchem and Hyacinth Estudillo of Getz Advance, the event took place in the Bonifacio and Katipunan Function Halls of the Quezon City Sports Club, where industry luminaries, eager graduates, and dedicated mentors gathered to celebrate the culmination of rigorous training and scholarship.


The program commenced at 12:30 p.m. with a cordial registration process, setting the stage for an afternoon dedicated to honoring the achievements of a new cohort of paint technology professionals. At precisely 1:30 p.m., Cybill Kristel Ciriaco of Chemrez offered an invocation that infused the gathering with a sense of reverence and purpose, echoing the collective aspirations of all present.


Following the invocation, the stage was set for the welcome address delivered by Reggie Yu, President of PPCAI. His remarks, delivered with both warmth and authority, emphasized the importance of continued education and innovation in the paint industry. His words resonated deeply, reinforcing the significance of the graduates' new expertise and its potential impact on the industry.


At 2:30 p.m., the program took a vibrant turn with a series of special performances by the graduates. Each group presented a unique dance number, showcasing their creativity and teamwork. Group 1 danced to the tune of ”Tiramisu Cake” by Kim Sung-cheol.


Group 2 jiggled to the mashup rhythms of “Tiktok Dance Remix” medley.


The highlight of this segment was the performance by Group 3, which won acclaim for their rendition of “Maybe This Time” by Michael Martin Murphey, a performance that left the audience captivated and demonstrated the graduates' diverse talents beyond their technical skills.


Group 4 finally got the audience on their feet, as they grooved to the music of N’Sync’s smash hit, “Bye, Bye, Bye.


The ceremony reached its peak at 3:00 p.m. with the formal presentation of 29 graduates. The momentous occasion included the calling of names, the conferral of diplomas and certificates, and the presentation of special awards.


The ceremony also highlighted the exceptional graduates who completed the course with the highest grades, notably Cyril John Jasareno (Magna Prime) who topped the class as this year’s valedictorian; Dianne Pangilinan (Magna Prime) as salutatorian, Harold Sumagaysay (RI Chem) as 1st Honorable Mention, Bernard Canusa (Magna Prime) as 2nd Honorable Mention, and Jan Rommel Mateo (Century Chem) as 3rd Honorable Mention. Each represented invaluable insights and gratitude, celebrating the achievements of their peers and the collective journey they had undertaken.



Closing remarks were delivered by Vice-President Patrick Negrete, Head of the Technical Committee. His address underscored the importance of the Technical Committee's role in shaping the course and expressed appreciation for the dedication of all involved.


The event concluded with a group photo session, capturing the triumphant graduates alongside the Technical Committee. This moment, framed against the backdrop of their shared accomplishments, symbolized the unity and forward momentum of the paint technology community.


Special recognition was given to the Technical Committee, a group of esteemed professionals whose contributions were pivotal in the success of the course. The committee members included Patrick Negrete (Chairman, Boysen), Cristina Pedrasa (Co-Chairman, Nippon), Ma. Luisa Valiente (Pacific Resins), Virginia Francisco (Tradeton), Virginia Lamor (Chemwealth), Danzen Dang-awan (RI Chem), Angelica Quisel (Jotun Phils), Khalel Ocampo (Magna Prime Chemical Tech), Harold Go (DMH), and Dianne Ruth Mendoza (Pacific Resins).


As the ceremony drew to a close, the air was filled with a sense of accomplishment and optimism. The graduates, equipped with new skills and a renewed sense of purpose, were poised to make meaningful contributions to the paint industry. The day’s events celebrated not just the completion of a course but the beginning of a new chapter in the graduates' professional journeys, marked by the promise of innovation and excellence in the field of paint technology.
