PPCAI Board Meeting Discusses Key Industry Initiatives and Strategic Plans for 2025

TAGUIG CITY, PHILIPPINES – February 18, 2025 – The Philippine Paint and Coatings Association, Inc. (PPCAI) convened its latest board meeting at 12:00 noon at the DKSH office in McKinley Hill Cyberpark, Taguig City. The meeting, attended by key industry leaders, covered crucial updates on health and safety regulations, special projects, technical committee developments, events planning, publicity initiatives, membership concerns, and financial matters.


Health, Safety, and Regulatory Updates

Chairman Diosdado Cheng of DKSH kicked off the meeting with an update on Hazardous and Universal Waste Handling Standards (HUHS), addressing compliance measures that affect the paint and coatings industry. His briefing underscored the importance of aligning with environmental and safety regulations to ensure sustainable practices across member companies.


Special Projects: Expanding Industry Engagement

Director Jonathan Bangayan led discussions on special projects, including updates on the Philippine Paint and Coatings Show, a flagship event expected to highlight innovations and advancements in the industry. The board also deliberated on proposed initiatives, including:


- Car Raffle during the Christmas Party – A potential revenue-generating activity aimed at increasing member engagement.

- Blood Letting Program – A corporate social responsibility initiative that reinforces the association’s commitment to community welfare.

- Golf Tournament – An industry networking event fostering camaraderie and partnership within the sector.

- PPCAI Journal – A proposed publication to provide industry insights, technical articles, and association news.

- Coatings Show – A large-scale exhibition showcasing technological advancements and industry trends.


Membership Concerns and Industry Challenges

Director Sam Conan Chua (Chemisol) raised membership issues, including other delinquent accounts, ensuring that financial obligations are met to maintain the integrity and sustainability of the association.


Technical Committee Developments

Vice President Patrick Negrete provided an update on TC 25, including the addition of Andalucia, Marduke, and Slimtex as new committee members. He also reported on Paint Technology 1, highlighting advancements in formulations and the latest trends in coatings science.


Sports and Events: 2025 Calendar in Focus

Co-Chair Carl Hu (Amstar), speaking on behalf of Director Alix Reyes (Chemrez), presented the 2025 calendar of events, ensuring a well-structured schedule of industry activities, including conferences, networking events, and corporate social responsibility programs.


Financial Report: Ensuring a Strong Fiscal Year

Treasurer Carl Hu (Amstar) presented the financial report for 2025, providing an overview of the association’s budget, revenue streams, and expenses. The report emphasized the importance of financial stability to support PPCAI’s growing projects and initiatives.


Publicity and Digital Presence

Directors JV Balane (J-Van) and Lynette Palma (Reda) reported on the Publicity Committee’s ongoing initiatives. They discussed:


Digital sponsorships aimed at increasing engagement and revenue.


Website updates to improve accessibility and industry information dissemination.

Other digital platforms to enhance PPCAI’s visibility and member communication.
